New Cycling Trails

The routes - 5km and 10km in length- range from relaxed, off road low land trails suitable for all, to more rugged and challenging terrain. The park has a stock of leisure bikes for hire for those that want a casual cycle around the Park along our designated leisure trails, or simply bring your own bike. this form of leisure is fast, safe, fun and puts people in direct contact with nature.


Leisure Trail - 5km Cycle
This trail begins at the fountain which is situated long side the Visitor Centre (number 1 on the Park map), following the Yellow signs while venturing around the park, through the flat and relaxing 5km trail. Firstly passing The Crannog, The Crannog Lake and Upper Lake on your left, which each can be experienced and you have the chance to see how the Crannog is made and the materieals used, while on the opposite side of the road is The Meadow which can also be cycled/walked through. Other key areas that can be found while on this Trail include the Three Historical Trails which include Famous People in Irish History (1700-2000 A.D), The Easter Rising (Dublin 1916) and The War of Independence (1918-1922),  The Fullacht Fiadh,  The Bird Observation Area and The Obstacle Course. This Trail really is jam packed with things to do for all members of the family!
Also having perfect picnic stops along the way.


Mountain Bike Trail - 10km
